About

My name is Yafa Ozery. I was born in 1957 in Givatayim, Israel. I live and work in Ramat Hasharon, a suburb of Tel Aviv, Israel.

I am an artist mainly focused on sculpture. Dealing with life itself and embodying my unique perspective on the material, using a variety of materials and techniques. I have a great fondness for crafts. I love to work with hand tools and electric ones and enjoy creating my works myself.

As a child I loved to create. I played with sawdust and nails in my father’s carpentry shop and helped my mother sculpt in marzipan. I learned to embroider and knit and fell in love with creating with clay. Eventually I became a potter working on a wheel. To improve my work, I studied sculpture and fell in love with it. I found in sculpture a wide opportunity for self-expression and today I am mostly a sculptor.

I like to work with a variety of materials. I collect shells, branches and stones as well as junk that people throw. Sometimes I use the materials immediately and there are times they ‘wait’ patiently, even a few years.

I believe that art is a part of life. I think that art connects us to the world and contributes to our understanding of ourselves.

Art for me is a passion and a necessity. I enjoy creating and want to share this love with everyone.

Curiosity led me to study variety of skills. I took different courses and workshops and have done academic studies, also did a lot of self-studying and research of techniques and materials.
